Growth Isn’t Always About Adding More

Growth Isn’t Always About Adding More

“There are two ways to grow: by adding or by shedding.
Do you need to add something or do you need to shed something?”
James Clear

When most people think about growth, they immediately think about doing more.
More goals. More skills. More effort. More hours.

But some of the most meaningful growth I’ve experienced—and seen in others—didn’t come from adding anything new. It came from shedding:
• A habit that no longer served
• A role taken on out of obligation
• A belief that limited confidence or clarity

Intentional leadership starts with discernment. Knowing what to add and what to let go of.

Sometimes the next breakthrough isn’t found in learning something new… It’s found in releasing what’s holding you back.

Next Step:
As you reflect on your leadership and personal growth, ask yourself: What is one thing you need to add this season—and one thing you need to shed?

If you want help identifying that next step (or next release), let’s talk. Coaching creates space for clarity, alignment, and forward movement.
